iPad 2 Available On Apple.com

Every time Apple releases one of their new products it's a monumental occasion.

Well, the day has come and I'm sure they'll be many more to come.

Although you can't buy the iPad 2 at retail stores like Apple, Bestbuy and Walmart until 5PM today, you can order your iPad 2 on Apple.com right now.

The website says it'll be 5-7 business days, but don't be surprised if it shows up a little earlier - then again, don't hold me to it ;-)

No need to waste anymore time, here she is......and she is beautiful I might add.

Around 2 years ago, Apple stole my heart away as soon as I put my fingers on a MacBook.  I still enjoy using a PC, even though my Gigabyte M912 tablet is a better fit for a 5 year old.

Don't forget to use Ninite to automate some of these installations - it will make your life A LOT easier :-)

Enjoy and have a happy and healthy New Year!!!

Google Keeps Giving; Adds More To Apps

Google has announced that they're giving more application access to Google Apps users.  Google Apps originally included core features of Gmail, Docs, Chat and Calendar, which is now accompanied by Voice, Maps, Reader and more.

Google Apps is a powerful, productive software suite that Google is using to try to lure more larger businesses to utilize.  The enterprise sector has been dominated by Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, but Google refuses to give up the fight.

Most people, myself included, are familiar with Office, which has given Microsoft a huge advantage in the enterprise sector.  New and existing employees are already familiar Office, eliminating any potential down time that a company would encounter in their transition to new platform such as Google Docs.

With the addition of the new features into Apps, Google is making it even harder for businesses to ignore them as a potential replacement for Office.  Google has done everything they can to make such a transition as easy as possible using features such as their mass contact importer and a Docs interface that closely resembles Office (spreadsheets are green, documents are blue, presentations are orange).

Here's my kicker, at the JEA Convention in Kansas City last weekend, a teacher asked what they should do if the school doesn't allow them access to Google.  I encountered the same issue in a recent project of mine, where Google Docs was eliminated because the business had a firewall setup to prevent employees from accessing Google (it could have been adjusted, but it wasn't the best option at the time).

Can accessing the Internet from a work place or a school be a distraction?  Yes

Can it lead to potential trouble?  Yes

Is it denying people access to the biggest, most powerful resource of information we've ever seen?  Yes

The situation is much more complex than this, but it's just as simplistic as well.  Google is the enemy and the savior at the same time, and so is technology.  I don't have the answer, but let's figure something out.

Do you use Google Apps?  Would you give it a shot?  Do you agree with my tangent?

Paypal Enters Local Game....Quietly

(download)

Paypal appears to be making a quiet, careful entry into the local game.

They're offering local business owners to try out their "Paypal Local Beta" program, joining the likes of Facebook Places, Check-In and Deals, Google Places, Foursquare, SCVNGR, etc.

My most recent business venture, Local Folks Marketing, made its way onto Paypal Local a couple of days ago, utilizing the rewards/coupon/discount feature of a "free online business consultation." Certainly not the typical offer, but I'm in my "beta" stage too.....
